A man suspected of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy from a park in El Sereno has been arrested, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

Edward William Banks of Los Angeles was arrested last week after a group of residents led authorities to a 27-year-old man in the 2500 block of Mallory Street, according to the LAPD. Banks was arraigned on the harassment charge and is being held on $1 million bond.

Earlier Tuesday, the suspect approached the teenager, then threatened the victim with a weapon and forced him into a bathroom, where Banks allegedly sexually assaulted him. victim, the LAPD said in a statement. The alleged incident happened in the 4700 block of Klamath Street at the El Sereno Leisure Center, according to police.

Jesus Manuel Salgado has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder in the death of a Merced family he was accused of robbing.

A video that captured part of the incident shows a man walking the youth down a neighborhood street with his arm around the youth as they walk past houses and cars. At least three times during the music video, the teenager raises his hand as cars drive past him.
